Another Mother Joins the March

How can a mother remain silent when the children of other mothers suffer as they do in Gaza? A year after Operation Cast Lead, the children of Gaza face another winter of terrible suffering as a result of the siege. I am joining the nonviolent Gaza Freedom March in order to stand beside the mothers of Gaza and mothers from around the world who insist on human rights, international law, and a future for all our children. As a high school theology teacher, I also look forward to joining many marchers whose work for peace and justice is grounded in their various faith traditions. Gandhi said that the purpose of nonviolent action is to "quicken" the conscience of humanity. May the Gaza Freedom March be a step in that direction.
